I’ve started grooming my Sheepadoodles at home, and it has saved me a fortune! Watching Sheepadoodle grooming tutorials on YouTube has helped me perfect my skills!
Sheepadoodle Grooming Tips and Tricks for Healthy Coat

💡 Pro Tip: Sheepadoodles Need Regular Brushing!
✅ Brush Regularly – Aim for 1-2 times a week to prevent matting and tangles.
✅ Use a High-Quality Doodle Brush – Long bristles help remove loose hair and prevent mats. This Doodle brush on Amazon is more affordable than other premium brands!
✅ Focus on Mat-Prone Areas – Pay special attention to behind the ears, under the armpits, and tail area to prevent knots. I often trim these areas short to avoid severe matting.
✅ Keep Hair Manageable – Avoid letting the coat grow too long between grooming sessions.
✅ Gently Remove Mats – Work out mats using your fingers or a comb—never pull on the hair! For stubborn mats, I spot-cut them out.
🐶 Do Sheepadoodles Shed?
Although Sheepadoodles don’t shed like short-haired dogs, they do experience light shedding—similar to how humans shed hair. To manage this, I use a Deshedder brush, which helps control excess hair around the house.
🛁 Sheepadoodle Bathing Techniques
While Sheepadoodles don’t require frequent baths, regular washing is crucial to keep their coats fresh and clean.
✔️ Bath Every 6-8 Weeks – Frequent bathing can dry out their skin, so aim for every 6-8 weeks or as needed.
✔️ Use Hypoallergenic Dog Shampoo – This prevents skin irritation and keeps their coat soft.
✔️ Rinse Thoroughly & Dry Completely – A damp coat can lead to matting and skin infections. Make sure to dry their ears to prevent infections.
✔️ Outdoor Summer Bathing Hack – In warmer months, I wash my Sheepadoodles outside with a hose, making bath time easier!

Eye & Ear Care for Sheepadoodles
The Sheepadoodle’s long, curly hair can sometimes cause irritation around the eyes. Gently wipe the eye area with a damp cloth to remove any debris. Check the ears regularly for signs of infection, redness, or a foul odor. Clean the ears with a dog-friendly ear cleaner and a cotton ball, being careful not to insert anything into the ear canal.
This powder is used to pluck all the hairs out of the ear canals. If they have an ear infection, you could pluck all the hairs out and then use these drops. Follow the directions on the drops bottle.
Attending the Pasadena Grooming Expo
I also plan on attending this Grooming Expo hosted in Pasadena. Check out the information. They do this annually.
🐾 Keep Your Sheepadoodle’s Coat Beautiful & Healthy!
A healthy coat starts from within. Ensure your Sheepadoodle is on a balanced, high-quality dog food that meets their nutritional needs. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish oil supplements or certain dog foods, can contribute to a shiny, healthy coat. I buy this fish oil from Pethealthandnutritioncenter.com. I love this store. I also add the multi vitamin into their food. Check out our previous blog on home cooked recipes.
Caring for a Sheepadoodle’s hair involves a combination of regular grooming, proper nutrition, and attention to detail. By following these tips, you’ll not only maintain a beautiful coat but also contribute to the overall health and happiness of your beloved Sheepadoodle.
